Force sensors and load cells

Strictly speaking, a load cell is just a force sensor. Load cell can only measure the force perpendicular to the horizontal plane, so it is generally used for weighing; Other force sensors can measure forces in any direction, so they have a wider range of applications.

The working principle of the force sensor (load cell) is that the sensor is based on the piezoelectric resistance embedded in the silicon chip, and its resistance increases when it is deflected by any external force. The sensor concentrates the applied force directly on the silicon sensor element through the stainless steel ball, and the resistance value changes in direct proportion to the amount of applied force. A change in circuit resistance causes a corresponding change in the MV output level.

Force sensors (load sensors) are mainly used in medical infusion pumps, mobile non-reverse pressure pumps, blockage detection, kidney dialysis machines, load and pressure sensors, variable tension control simulation, robot end sensors, wire welding equipment and other applications.

Force sensor (load sensor) classification: It is generally divided into S-type force sensor (load sensor) and wheel spoke force sensor (load sensor).

The characteristics of the S-type force sensor (load sensor) are: the sensor elastomer adopts a shear or curved cantilever beam structure, one end is fixed, a section of force, low shape height, high structural strength, and can be used for the bearing and measurement of various tensile and compressive forces. It has the following features: dustproof sealing, wide range, high precision, stable and reliable performance, easy installation and use. Suitable for electronic weighing, weighing and other industrial automatic measurement control system.

The characteristic of the spoke force sensor (weighing sensor) is that the elastic body adopts short high shear beam, good rigidity, strong resistance to lateral force, and self-locking of structural overload. Protection using rubber seal and welding seal, respectively up to IP67 and IP68, widely used in automotive balance, tie track balance, force measuring machine, hanging scale and other equipment.
