The holmium laser wavelength of 2.1um is at the peak absorption
of water, and the laser energy is efficiently absorbed by water
in stones and tissues. Through the micro-blasting of stones by
water and the vaporization of soft tissues, the dual functions
of lithotripsis and cutting are realized. Because the penetration
depth of holmium laser in the tissue is less than 0.4mm, it
can be accurately cut without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Holmium laser is widely used in urology, and can be applied in
dermatology, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology, general
surgery, ent and other fields.
